Housing 38 rue Cavé – Paris (FR)
The aim of the project is the comprehensive refurbishment, in an occupied environment, of the communal areas of a block of flats built at the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century. The general condition of the commun areas is average to dilapidated. The only service room proposed is the 3.6m² garbage shed in the largest courtyard. We propose deconstructing the existing garbage shed and building a new one at the back of the courtyard. For our first research hypothesis, we propose installing the lift shaft in the bathrooms of stack D (located next to the staircase). In terms of the issues at stake, the structural problem is paramount. It’s a very interesting project, with a certain complexity and architectural potential to be taken up.
A structural problem on one of the building’s gables has been identified. Emergency work has been carried out on the affected gable, using reinforcements installed in the courtyard at 34 rue des Gardes.The walls and floors on the upper floor are partially affected by the damage to the gable wall. It will be necessary to remove the cladding and carry out spot checks during the diagnostic phase in order to examine their condition and define the work required.
